The pH levels of the soil that Hydrangeas grow in determine their colour in bloom. In more acidic soils hydrangeas will grow blue (a pH level of 5-6), while they will grow pink in neutral to slightly alkaline conditions (a pH level of 7-7.5).
How do I lower the pH of my soil to achieve Blue Hydrangeas?
For best results use the Manutec Soil pH Test Kit to determine current soil pH levels. To achieve a lower soil pH, it is common practice to add Sulphur to the soil over the course of 4-6 weeks to gradually make it more acidic.
