Collection: Tomato Care

Tomato plants are heavy soil feeders. No matter how rich and fertile your soil might be, they can quickly deplete it’s nutrients.

It is important to give Tomatoes a boost with slow release fertilizer when first planted to help build a strong root structure. Try Manutec tomato tablets when planting out seeds.

When transplanted, young tomato plants need a few weeks to adjust to the soil before fertilizing again. The shock of transplant can be hard on plants, and adding fertilizer too early can actually harm them.

After tomatoes have been in the ground for about 2 weeks it's time to fertilise again. Opt for either regular doses of soluble tomato food such as Manutec Tomato Magic, or for a set and forget method, a slow release spike such as Jobes Tomato spikes will produce a bumper crop!
